Equity-Based Leadership Approach

All of Micia Mosely’s work is rooted in an equity-based approach to education.  This framework allows her to clearly and unapologetically address historical and institutional racism, classism, and other biases in educational reform.  She does this by supporting positional leaders in districts and schools to be more effective in their roles in order to dramatically improve educational experiences, outcomes, and life options for students and families who have been historically underserved by educational institutions.

Research and experience demonstrate that highly effective leaders are critical to the creation of high-achieving and equitable schools and districts.  Effective leaders for equity must be highly skilled at articulating a powerful vision and leading diverse communities toward the realization of measurable goals.

In addition to technical skill and knowledge, leaders for equity must possess a sophisticated set of relational, social-emotional, and cultural competencies. In recent years I’ve has worked with leaders to improve school climate, attendance, teacher effectiveness and satisfaction, student engagement and academic performance, and family participation.

While all of Dr. Mosely’s services are tailored for specific school & district contexts she offers one-on one coaching, as well as group workshops and multi-day institutes in the following areas:

1) Expanding Leadership (Administrators, Teachers, & Parents)

2) Small School Design and Development

3) New Teacher Development

4) Professional Learning Community (PLC) Development

5) Whole School Professional Development Design and Implementation

6) Aligning Curriculum & High Stakes Testing

7) Building Cultural Competence in Self & Systems
